Houghton Lake's  Historical Playhouse is a fine example of early 20th Century Dance Hall design.  Built in 1927 as the Johnson Dance Hall the Playhouse served for many years as the entertainment center for the area.  Abandoned and left in disrepair the Playhouse was sold to the Historical Society and was renovated and repaired.   It has been used since 1990 for many events including live plays, musical concerts, community events, weddings, family re-unions and much more. The playhouse is regularly scheduled for events and can be rented for weddings and other private parties. If you are interested in renting this hall please call 989-422- 6393 or to e-mail click here
